Sometime this week, my sch had a talk. The professors talked abt their own life experiences. What were they doing before coming to NTU to teach.. where they did their masters, their pHD, their post doc and stuff like that.. Which part of the world they travlled to and work in different lab and how was their working hrs like.. (*wow they work for super duper long hrs.. 9am to like 11pm).. doing experiment n stuff like tat.. After the talk, it made me feel that the honours that i m going to get in like 3 years time is only a PSLE cert in their eyes.. they have studied and did so many reach and went to so many places to constantly upgrade their knowledge.. one even said that pHD is the ticket to everything.. *wow.. (if i were to get tat, it would take be at least another 6 years after my honours.. which is another 10 years from now..) OoooOoo.. During the Q&A session, one student asked if they had time for social life since they work for so long hrs.. their reply was tat.. to plan your life around the experiment.. (Oh my..) hahaha.. After being in SBS for almost a year now.. Besides learning lots of stuff.. (sch work), i gain one impt insight.. LIFE IS NOT JUZ ABT A PIECE OF PAPER.. Everydae.. i see ppl mugging in the resource room.. And i hear frm some that some ppl stay up till 3am everydae to study.. (oh my.. can u believe it?) and they also spent their weekends studying.. I had a quiz earlier this week. It was juz short ans qns.. I mean ya, its a quiz, u got to study for it.. but not till the extend that u burn your weekends and also skip mornin lec so that u could study more???!!! I also heard from somewhere that last sem, during the 1 week break before the exams, some ppl locked themselves up in their room n mug continuously.. as in really non stop.. coming out only for food n toilet break.. Hmm is life really juz all abt that piece of paper? Ya qualification is v impt.. if not why on earth would i b in uni.. but then do u really need to go till such an extend???
