'Iron Lungs'
Pictures of people being infected with Polio Virus.. The photos are quite ridiculous right? But the doctors are so smart.. Using simple daily things, they found a 'cure' for these people.. Cure as in instead of dying.. But they have to like spend hours and hours and hours in these boxes..
Polio if it is major affects motor neurons and lead to flaccid paralysis. It may lead to respiration paralysis too.. Which are what the people above are suffuring from.. Which will then lead to death.. Coz air cannot enter their lungs.. Coz their lungs cant expand..
So wat the clever doctors did was to invent these 'iron lungs'.. Its just a box which is a vaccume. It is kept a vaccume by using a normal day to day vaccume cleaner which sucks out the air inside constantly.. The patients then lie in there.. And coz its a vaccume, the pressure inside is lower than the pressure outside and this forces air to enter the lungs thru their mouth and this keeps them alive!!!
Btw, 'iron lungs' boxes are still being used today.. But of course not so many suffer from polio anymore since we now have a vaccine for it.. **Claps claps claps.. Clever scientists!
